expertise: numerical simulations, galaxy evolution, structure and interactions, computational astrobiology, galactic habitability •
Ana Mitrašinović completed her BSc and MSc studies in astrophysics at the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Belgrade. She defended her doctoral dissertation, Galaxy Flyby Simulations and the Influence of the Impact Parameter on Their Evolution, at the same institution in September 2022, under the supervision of Dr. Miroslav Mićić. She has been employed at the Astronomical Observatory of Belgrade since 2015, where she currently holds the position of (Senior) Research Associate. During 2023 and 2024 she led the research group Numerical Simulations and Big Data at the Observatory. She is currently a work package leader on the Science Fund of Serbia project MOBY (Modelling Binary Systems That End in Stellar Mergers and Give Rise to Gravitational Waves) applying machine learning approach to generated data, serves as mentor to a doctoral student exploring the nature of ultra-diffuse galaxies using cosmological simulations, and contributes to observational follow-up campaigns targeting HI-selected low-mass galaxy candidates. She teaches several courses at the doctoral level within the Astronomy and Astrophysics programme at the University of Belgrade.
