Nikos Litinas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philology at the University of Crete. He completed his undergraduate (1985–1989) and postgraduate studies at the University of Crete (1989–1991), and received his PhD in Classics from University College London (1991–1994) with a doctoral thesis on unpublished papyri from Oxyrhynchus. His academic career at the University of Crete began as a Visiting Scholar (1996–1999) and Adjunct Assistant Professor (1999–2003), continued through the positions of E.T.E.P. Special Technical and Laboratory Staff (2003–2014) and E.DI.P. Laboratory Teaching Staff (2014–2025), until his election to the position of Associate Professor in 2025. His published and academic work includes numerous monographs (such as editions of ostraca and papyri from Tebtunis, Abu Mina, Chersonisos in Crete, and the Michigan Collection), as well as numerous contributions to collective/festschrift volumes, articles in international scientific journals and conference proceedings (e.g., ZPE, BASP, APF, Tyche), and digital publications/emendations of papyri (Bulletin of Online Emendations to Papyri). Since 2000, he has been co-founder, director, and chief editor of the international journal for classical studies ΕΥΛΙΜΕΝΗ/EULIMENE and its homonymous series of monographs.
