and the digital humanities and social sciences.
The Institute for Research in Education and Digital Humanities and Social Sciences was established with the aim of strengthening interdisciplinary research in the fields of education, humanities, and social sciences, by leveraging the capabilities of modern digital technologies. Its creation reflects the need for new scientific approaches that combine traditional research with innovative digital methods for data analysis and processing.
The Institute was formed within the framework of the University Research and Innovation Center (URIC) of the University of Crete, which aims to develop high-level research structures and promote collaboration between different scientific fields. Through this structure, an environment has been created that fosters the production of new knowledge and the development of innovative research approaches.
Since its founding, the Institute has sought to link educational research with the digital humanities and social sciences, promoting the use of digital tools for the study of social and cultural phenomena. The utilization of digital archives, databases, and new forms of scientific documentation constitutes a core element of its research activity.
At the same time, the Institute aims to develop partnerships with universities, research centers, and cultural organizations in Greece and abroad. Through these collaborations, the Institute’s international presence is strengthened, and the exchange of knowledge and research experience in the fields of education and digital humanities and social sciences is promoted.
