Institute for the Study and Research of the Medieval World (ISRM)
Research at the Institute for the Study and Research of the Medieval World focuses on the interdisciplinary study of the history, culture, and social structures of the medieval era. The Institute’s objective is to understand the political, religious, social, and cultural processes that shaped medieval societies in Europe and the Mediterranean.
A primary research axis involves the study of historical sources, manuscripts, and literary texts of the medieval period. Through the philological analysis and historical interpretation of these sources, the Institute contributes to the understanding of the ideas, institutions, and cultural practices of the time.
At the same time, particular emphasis is placed on the study of Byzantine and Medieval European history, as well as the cultural and social interactions between different regions and civilizations. The research examines issues such as trade exchanges, religious influences, and the forms of political organization that characterized the medieval world.
The Institute also utilizes modern methods and digital tools for the recording, documentation, and analysis of historical data. The development of digital archives and databases contributes to the preservation and dissemination of historical knowledge and facilitates collaboration among researchers.
Through international partnerships, research programs, and scientific publications, ISRM (IMEMKO) actively contributes to the advancement of Medieval Studies. The Institute serves as a hub for academic dialogue and knowledge exchange, strengthening research and the understanding of a critical period in world history.
