Aspasia Chatzidaki

Dr. Aspasia Chatzidaki is a Professor in the Department of Primary Education at the University of Crete and Director of the Centre for Intercultural and Migration Studies (CIMS/EDIAMME). From 2019 to 2023, she served as the Head of the Department, while from 2016 to 2021 she was an elected board member of the Centre for Research and Studies (CERS-UC) of the University of Crete. In her research, Dr. Chatzidaki focuses on sociolinguistic aspects of bilingualism (code-switching/translanguaging, language maintenance, Family Language Policy), teacher education for diversity and inclusion in various contexts and on Greek as a second/foreign and heritage language. Since 2019 she has co-edited three collective volumes on refugee education in Greece, ‘new’ migration from and to Greece and Greek-language education in the diaspora. She has also published two books in Greek, related to bilingualism in education and heritage/ community-language maintenance (the latter with Ch.Maligkoudi). She has numerous publications in journals, collective volumes and conference proceedings, whereas she has been involved in designing textbooks and digital material for Greek as an L2 (level B2) in the course of EU-funded projects implemented by the University of Crete and EDIAMME.
