Dr. Pitikakis Marios holds a Lab Teaching Staff – Lecturer position at the Computer Science Department, University of Crete, since October 2017. He received his Ph.D. in 2011 from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Thessaly, Greece. He has a BSc in Mathematics (1997) and a BSc in Computer Science (2000) from the University of Crete. During the period 2013-2015, he worked in Genoa, Italy, as a postdoctoral researcher – Marie Curie Fellow (Experienced Researcher). Since the year 2000, he has been collaborating with Research Centers in Greece (FORTH, CERTH) and in Italy (CNR). His research and development activity includes participation in 13 European and 5 National programs, as well as the coordination of 2 Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships projects in the field of STEM technologies in Vocational Education and Training (microcontroller programming, IoT, educational robotics, 3D Design/3D Printing, drones). He has extensive teaching and research experience, with more than 30 publications in international scientific journals and conference proceedings.

RESEARCH INTERESTS: Knowledge Bases and Decision Support Systems, Semantic Data Management, Medical image analysis & 3D visualization, Web Services & Web applications, STEM & IoT, Extended Reality (XR) technologies in education.
